Rockingham County Quilt Trail Unveiling
The first squares of the Rockingham County Quilt Trail are ready to be unveiled. The unveiling of the first square is scheduled for Friday, January 15th at 10:00 am at Amanda’s Daylilies, 480 Manuel Rd., Mayodan, NC. The second will be at Riverbirch Vineyard, 200 Will Tom Rd., Reidsville, NC 27320 on March 25, 2016 at 3:00 pm.
The purpose of the Quilt Trail is to promote tourism by encouraging local residents and visiting tourists to travel around Rockingham County’s beautiful rural landscape and shop the agribusinesses and locally-made products. The squares will be placed on barns and there are 19 locations to date.
The quilt squares will either be painted by local artists or created on aluminum 4’ x 4’ squares. Each square is a celebration of the rich agricultural heritage of Rockingham County. The locations will be featured in all promotional materials, including a Quilt Trail map, brochure and website.
The Quilt Trail is a collaborative project of the Rockingham County Soil and Water Conservation District, Rockingham County Arts Council, Rockingham Tourism Development Authority and Piedmont Conservation Council, Inc.
The project is funded by NC Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Competitive Grant Program for Underserved and Limited Resource Communities. The Quilt Trail will be completed by summer 2016.
