October 1, 2017 – November 24, 2017 all-day

The bales are back in town!

On October 1st, Mayodan was transformed into “Hayodan” as we celebrate the beautiful fall season in the northern Piedmont.  This unusual artistic event, now in its third year, is a partnership between the Downtown Mayodan Merchants Association and the Town of Mayodan.  Local businesses and organizations focus their creative energy on creating unique art out of large hay bales.   Over four dozen “hay”-creations can be found throughout the community.  Last year, we had a giant Sp-HAY-der, a Pup-HAY Dog, a Turk-HAY, even the HAY-Puffed Marshmallow Man!  So who knows what BALE of an idea folks will think of for this year?

A brochure with a map of the hay bale locations can be picked up at the following participants: Mayodan Town Hall, 210 West Main Street, Cedar Mountain Country Store, 105 S. 2nd Ave., Squealing Pig BBQ, 105 E. Main Street, and Countryside Produce and Grille, 401 N. Ayersville Road. An online brochure is also available on the town website at www.townofmayodan.com.  You can also view the sculptures on Facebook at MayodanNC. We hope everyone enjoys viewing all the cre-hay-tions.  The sculptures will be up through November 19th.  Please stop by the sponsoring businesses and thank them for their community spirit and creative designs. Financial support is provided in part by the Rockingham County Tourism Development Authority.
